Some of you may remember the Monday just about a month ago when I couldn’t bring myself to put up a Monday Motivation post - because my laptop had just died and I was in panic mode. I thought I had lost almost everything - but thanks to Jon, I was able to remove my old hard drive, buy an external casing for it, and set up temporary shop on my poor daughter’s laptop while I figured out a way to get a new machine.
I worked my a$$ off in February making that happen. Today, allow me the indulgence of showing off my new Home Office Ninja booty! A new Sony VAIO! W00t!
I was so excited to start work on Monday on my new machine that I cleaned my office top to bottom yesterday just so I could get to work right away this morning.
Dang, that makes me sound dorky.
Anyway, here’s the Monday Motivation drill.
Step 1 - let us know what you are going to get done today (your to-do list, so to speak).
Step 2 - put it in a comment below or a post on your own site.
Step 3 - let us know what will motivate you to get it done - a reward, consequences, or whatever you need to think that will ensure you do what you say you are going to do. I’ve found that the public announcement and accountability is a particularly great motivator, but throw down consequences if you really need a kick in the pants to get stuff done! Unless, of course, you are working towards a new laptop too, in which case I think the reward is particularly motivating.
We don’t care how you get it done, we just want to support you in reaching your goals.
Today before I go to sleep I will:
- Clean out my inbox of 279 emails
- Fung Shui my desk
- Do 4 loads of laundry
And before the end of the day Thursday I will:
- Write a post-dated entry for ShoestringSmarts
- Write an entry for Inspired Entrepreneur
- Spend 1 hour building a media contact list
- Make a coaching appointment
- Send Steve all remaining graphics for new templates
If I don’t get all of this done by the time I said I would, I’ll donate an extra $200 to Kiva entrepreneurs this week.
And you might want to check out what others are doing to get motivated on Mondays…

Your new RED laptop is so beautiful! Love it. I am trying to get organized today so I can have a very productive week.
Char’s last blog post..Monday Motivation - Get Organized
I’ve been reading eMoms for months, and I’ve never done Monday Motivation before. Today, I need it
By the end of the day today, I will:
1. Have a rough version of my organic gardening article finished.
2. Complete and email my next article outline for Mahalo.
3. Reply to all of the emails/comments sitting in my inbox.
4. Plan this week’s blog posts.
If I don’t do it, I don’t get any coffee tomorrow.
amazing laptop - it would make me bright and shiny on a monday morning too
I just closed a month end, so for me it’s pause, reflect on the month past, what worked, what didn’t and plan what’s next
my to-do list
to write and send my monthly newsletter - done
to format my next BNI Share for my Blog - also done
Plan other march posts, confirm this weeks appointments, do a small snail mail, schedule vet, make grocery list
seems doable - i am not overwhelmed today

Hi Wendy, I love your new laptop!! I wanted a VAIO, was looking at them before Christmas, and I ended up with a Toshiba, which btw I am very grateful for - I love my sweet laptop.
2 things on my goal sheet for this week:
1. Each night before bed, get all of my healthy meals portioned out and put in the frig for the next day. I used to be in a steady habit of this and it makes things much much easier for me to stay on the healthy track.
2. Start collecting all of my old data to submit for that class action suite re: the credit cards charging everyone an overseas tax without telling us. Needs to be in by May and I need to start on this now.
Thanks Wendy, I’m glad you’re still doing this post every Monday, you’re so inspiring and upbeat!

Thanks for the link Wendy, glad the whole mess turned out OK in the end.
Congrats on the new laptop it looks sweet. Maybe I should try your Monday motivation technique to make sure my blog is updated a bit more often or else people might start to think it’s dead
Best wishes
Jon…
Love your blog! Monday motivation is just I what I need…too bad a shiny red laptop is not my reward.
1. Create feature post for blog - done
2. Create review post for group blog
3. Make 2 pairs of earrings for sale - 1 done, one planned
4. Order more supplies
I better get moving on this list for today!

Thanks for the link, Wendy! I love your new laptop, I want one just like it! Maybe a contest is in order . . .
It’s Monday, I’m home with a sick kid and getting over a cold myself. I made a great chicken dinner with lemon sauce and a chocolate dessert. (And the kids said thanks!!!) I just finished a team meeting with Hands On and I have no energy to do anything else tonight. I’m crashing early.
Love that red laptop!

Ah, didn’t go with DELL, eh?
Kelvin Kao’s last blog post..LCC presents: I’m Feeling Lucky!
ROFL - I wanted the Dell, actually, but the one they had in the store was $250 more than the VAIO, and had less processing speed. I still might have gone with them if I could have gotten one from their site within a week - but I wasn’t going to wait two more weeks for a machine I was having a hard time living without!
I finally got motivated to get our tax stuff ready Sunday night. I don’t get a Sony Vaio at the end of it, but hopefully our tax accountant will say we get a big refund!
I love the new laptop.
There’s a trick, you know.
You will LOVE your Sony! My first laptop was/is a purple Sony. Really upped the cool factor for me - and it sure fits your personality, Wendy. Enjoy!
