Monday Motivation :: Kicking Butt & Taking Names

I am the Home Office NinjaLast week was one of the worst weeks I have had in a long time. Many of you were extremely helpful and supportive as I worked to recover my data from my old laptop. Several other things broke last week, my mom went in for surgery (she’s doing great, already back at home), and I ended up going over to one of my best friend’s house and literally bawling my eyes out on her shoulder for an afternoon.

While I really, really needed that release, it was also a wakeup call that I really haven’t been taking care of myself to the level that I normally do. And I also realized that it was beginning to have a ripple effect - in my life and in my business.

More on that later, but for now, it means I’m here to kick some a$$ this week.

Who’s with me?!

Here’s the Monday Motivation drill.

Step 1 - let us know what you are going to get done today (your to-do list, so to speak).

Step 2 - put it in a comment below or a post on your own site.

Step 3 - let us know what will motivate you to get it done - a reward, consequences, or whatever you need to think that will ensure you do what you say you are going to do. I’ve found that the public announcement and accountability is a particularly great motivator, but throw down consequences if you really need a kick in the pants to get stuff done!

We don’t care how you get it done, we just want to support you in reaching your goals.

Today before I go to sleep I will

  1. Clean my office
  2. Empty out my recovered inbox (thanks again to Dennis Bjorn Peterson for helping me to get my email back!!)
  3. 4 loads of laundry
  4. Write my to do list for the week and for the month
  5. I will NOT play Spider Solitaire until after 7pm tonight

So, be a Home Office Ninja and play along, either in a comment below or a post on your own site and let us know what are you going to get done today?

Hi Wendy, I’m sorry to hear last week was so bad. Sometimes it seems to get like that. I also was a stress case, so this day here are my goals:

    1) Finish and post flash fiction.
    2) Do some work on the book.
    3) Take it easy.

I’ve been too hard on myself lately, so it’s time for me to be more casual.

Maybe it was because I was working all weekend but it doesn’t seem like Monday at all. Sorry to hear about the laptop. I spent the day planning for the Chinese new year of the mouse. (After all I am a Cookiemouse!) This week I want to work on my agenda and get some more structure to how I use my time.

my ultimate goal today was to get my newsletter written, with that said - it’s done - up and live, and it’s also sent to the mailing list. WHEW!

We were gone this weekend and I knew today was going to have some re-entry to it - the fact that we got lost, caught in the storm and home very late - it’s no wonder I am foggy at best today - happiness is pajama day -

i am celebrating a really kick butt january - thus it’s OK to take a few days off to regroup and regenerate

we do have to wipe off it all off and start all over again

What a great attitude to start the week after surviving such a rough one last week.

I love the Home Office Ninja concept. My goals are:

    1. Catch up on email requests from clients.

    2. Continue w/ new website design for myself.

    3. Get back to jiu-jitsu training (took a month off).

    4. Tell my partner I love her.

Glad I found your blog. I look forward to more Monday Motivation entries to get my weeks rolling.

Wendy, girl, here’s a hug! Hope your mom is doing ok. Bawling is good–it cleanses the soul for a fresh start!

I still have a couple of hours left in today so I will:

Finish copying the files for my early intervention review.

    Drag the finished laundry upstairs.

Finish two more thank you notes from the “Mom’s Night Inn” event.

Watch “Little People, Big World” for a blog post on Disaboom.

I have made this part of my overall goal to get healthier and take better care of me! Signing up for a 5k will help me keep focused, relieve some stress and get some exercise. Wish me luck.
