Monday Motivation :: Let’s KICK IT UP!!

Monday MotivationWell, since I got next to nothing done last week during my server downtime and migration, it’s high time we got something done together, wouldn’t you agree?!! :D

So let’s Kick It UP this week - no slacking! There’s only one more week to go before the big 4th of July week when none of us will be working, anyway!

So how does Monday Motivation work? Simple - tell us what you need to get done. The public accountability helps on it’s own. But then also let us know what will motivate you to get it done - let us know your reward, or your consequences. For BIG to do lists that you have been procrastinating on, the consequences are a much more powerful way to ensure you do what you say you are going to do!

Today, I will complete the following:

  1. Clean out my inbox of 421 messages (o.m.g.)
  2. 3 loads of laundry
  3. Meditate
  4. Create my To Do List for the week
  5. Get advertising live on ShoestringSmarts (if possible - we had to reconfigure the ad server and I haven’t tested it out yet)

For the rest of this week, I will post the To Do List I create today and have it done by the time I go to bed on Saturday.

So, what are you going to get done today?

I’m the membership chairman for an organization and I’m going to enter all the members from forms into a spreadsheet.

I’m working on a computer problem and I’m going to work on the outline of the solution.

WOOT! Good to have you back Wendy!

My Monday is almost over. I’m closing the day by refereeing another soccer match.

The rest of the week, well I’m planning a new article series and which I will hopefully get some responses to (cough cough hint hint), so I’ve gotta update my site with that, then I’m closing a client project, which will lead to a wet night out (the client, which is a bank, is paying) and packing for a one week holiday with my wife in Spain (Mallorca) starting this Saturday.

I didn’t mention the part about being on vacation — I hope it’s OK if I hang out here a lot more?

I planned out all the articles for the weel for my blogs (15 in total. Sheesh.)
I’m still working on cleaning out my Inbox. There are 15 resumes left and 50 new messages.
I also cleaned out my car.

All before 1 o’clock. This is the most productive I’ve been all month.

    Hi,
This is my first visit to your site, or to any blog of someone I don’t know! It’s a fresh day and the beginning of summer vacation. Today I want to get a chunk done of revising the new first 50 pages of my novel so I can send it to an agent by the end of the week if not sooner. I also will clean up all the misc. clothes and stuff from piles where they’ve been dumped in several rooms! Ah, summer. A beautiful breeze blows through my window.

Welcome Lisa! :) Glad you stopped by (and mentioned the clothes because it reminded me I had better get doing some of the laundry I promised to do! ;) ).

Hope to see you around again soon!

Hmmm, well, I’m embarassed to say that I’ve completely dropped the ball on my college project, so I guess I need to drag myself back up to the table and get writing on it again. I just always find so many things that I need to do with my blog that I don’t want to work on that darned project….

My commitment: I’ll put in 45 minutes each day this week, M-F. I so don’t want to, but I’m making myself accountable (again!) for this. I’ve got to get this done.

I commit to talking to three people a day about my new Avon business.

I commit to working on learning more about my Corel Draw program and Corel Photo Paint. Along that same line I also commit to work more on learning how to use my Dreamweaver8 and FlashMx programs.

I have a web conference with Ektron Friday morning and an appointment related to disability so it is crucial I make the most out of my time while my son is in summer school.

If I don’t get any of this done I will go the whole month of July without ice cream.

Well my Monday is almost over…it’s almost 9pm here in Texas. I did get a lot done…but oh so much more to do. Today, I posted two entries on my blog (www.babblesoft.com/blog), I reviewed some legal agreements, I had lunch meeting with some long time business acquantance, his wife, and my husband, I snuck in a pedicure, and had a few phone conversations. I’d like to say I did the dishes too but I just sort of stared at them while walking through the kitchen several times today. I also was finally motivated to water the plants (a few days late).

As for the rest of this week, I’m not even sure but I think a) make at least 2 more blog posts, sign legal agreements, call on some potential customers (HR departments), work on some press leads, and try to clean up the house!

@ Glen - THANKS! That was a while ago - so it’s good to hear it is still adding value.

@ JoLynn - I hate those kinds of projects that get procrastinated to no end…. gah - I really, really hate them - but it is indeed true that the avoidance of the work is actually worse than DOING the work - its just getting started that is the real hard part.

@ Joe. Those are some serious consequences you’re throwing down there, woman! ;)

@ Aruni - LOL - I walked past dishes a lot today, too! At least it rained so I could blow off watering the garden guilt-free!!! ;)

Oh Wendy. thanks for the inspiration. I’m going to post everyday this week, do all the laundry from my trip and try not to stress. Between you and my coach I should stay on track.. except I’m a day late getting started.. oh well.
