Monday Motivation :: Even When You Don’t Wanna Do It

Monday MotivationSome Mondays I love this tradition - I’m ready to roll and work my tail off. Other Mondays, well, I wish I wasn’t so public about this accountability thing, because I just don’t feel like it. I would have to guess that a lot of you feel that way sometimes, too. ;)

But that’s exactly why we need Monday Motivation, because without it, well, it would probably be more like Mediocre Monday.

So here’s the lowdown on our Monday tradition:

Step 1 - let us know what you are going to get done today (your to-do list, so to speak).

Step 2 - put it in a comment below or a post on your own site.

Step 3 - let us know what will motivate you to get it done - a reward, consequences, or whatever you need to think that will ensure you do what you say you are going to do. I’ve found that the public announcement and accountability is a particularly great motivator, but throw down consequences if you really need a kick in the pants to get stuff done!

Last week I almost blew it - I promised to clean out my inbox - and then my internet went down in the late afternoon (and didn’t come on again until the next day). I did some quick thinking and replied to all of the emails even though I couldn’t send them out until the next morning, so by the time I went to bed, my word had been kept. *Phew!*

So today, before I go to sleep, I will:

  • Clean out my inbox of 248 emails
  • 2 loads of laundry (the glamorous life of a blogger, I know, I know - autograph requests now being taken)
  • Arrange conference call
  • 3 posts/pages written or re-written

If I don’t have all of this done by the time I go to bed tonight, I will pay for one of you fine readers to join me in Jeremy Palmer’s PPCClassroom (don’t get your hopes up! ;) )

So what are you going to get done today?

Here is my list for today:
    - Talk to my boss about permanent work from home arrangement
    - 2 posts written/published
    - 1 post through 1st draft
    - Contact Hesed House about donating furniture

If I don’t get these things done today I will go without Diet Coke all week. This is huge for me, much like coffee is for you. :)

I really need the Monday Motivation post this week. I went to bed with a raging headache, and despite sleeping an extra two hours, it’s still there. I’ve already missed yoga and don’t want to do anything but curl up under a warm blankie. Alas, that is not to be until I get other things accomplished!

    1. Straighten up the living room and kitchen
    2. Vacuum
    3. Post to both blogs
    4. Keep an eye out for project info on gmail account
    5. At least three loads of laundry
    6. Make grocery list (and go shopping with husband if up to it)
    7. Get a substitute coach for Bradley Method class tonight
    8. Go to class tonight

Wow, I think I’ve got my work cut out for me. I’m not going set any consequences, though, because . . . well, I don’t wanna! I’ll just work very hard at getting these things done.

Man, it seems like the unmotivated monday blues have hit us all!

    Here’s my list:

    * Get a blog report done
    * Finish up a newsletter
    * Figure out what to get my husband for his birthday
    * Spend at least an hour on restructuring a few scenes in my novel
    * Interview with a chef at 2:00

If I don’t get these done then . . . I’ll just curl up under the covers and read a book and feel guilty? ;-)

I already completed a majority of my list, but one item still remains.

    - Get more users to sign-up for my new photo archiving site.

If I don’t get this done, I shall buy PPC advertising tomorrow to make it happen!

Tuesday here in Australia, but as i ran on the beach this morning, I commented that I need to be more focussed so here is my list for today
    1. Write 3 blog posts, so I start to build a reserve. I have 12 started , but incomplete
    2. Check out a new template to see if my header will fit into the design
    3. Contact my newfound WP Angel to fix my plug-ins etc and tweak my site
    4. Clean out the 500 plus emails sitting in gmail.

And I just got distracted by checking out the PPC course and joining Chris’s Photo tiki. So I will stay up until i complete these or Kiva gets a donation

It’s about time I start commenting on these posts again ;)

It’s Tuesday “late” morning, but today I will:

    1. Finish the blog post about ebooks and audiobooks and possibly write one more
    2. Get my team together for a strategy meeting
    2½. Do my 8-4 job
    3. Prepare for 2-week maternity leave
    4. Bug my wife. She is 11 days overdue and the waiting is driving me crazy. I’m starting to dream about babies and births now.
    5. Enjoy the possibly last free-masonry meeting in several weeks.

If I don’t do this there will be no FIFA 08 on Xbox360 when I come home from work :-(

For some reason I don’t trust the “affiliate template” used on PPCClassroom page. I’ve seen so many fake and crappy products use it. Is it really the best “theme” for affiliate marketing?

    Hi Wendy.
This was not done on monday but I think it is ok for this subject anyway.
It’s on my blog at http://www.blogadollar.com/the-11-top-actions-that-kept-blogadollar-busy-these-5-last-days/
In fact I’ve got a lot of this kind of articles in the http://www.blogadollar.com/category/blogadollar-case-study-daily-progression/ category of Blogadollar.
I tell in a real life case study manner what actions I performed, why, how long, what for etc…
And I tell why like in this post:

I hope those articles will benefit your readers.
