Though the goal of most of us WAHMs is to be able to stay at home and work - we must always remember that for our sanity and mental balance it is indeed wise to get our butts out of the house every now and then.

Step 1 :: Be sure to own a laptop (and throw it into this swanky laptop bag!)

Step 2 :: Find a kind neighborhood momma to watch the kiddos for a couple of hours (swap as needed)

Step 3 :: Head on over to the nearest Starbucks

Step 4 :: Bask in the pleasure of a good cup of joe and adult conversation

Step 5 :: Repeat regularly for optimal results

21 Great Ways to Start and Build Your Own Successful Business

If you are anything like every entrepreneur I know, you probably love to learn and love to grow. I’m the same way - I can never get enough information and new ideas.

One of my favorite sources of business information is from experts in the self help field - because they understand that running a business is pursuing a dream. And that sometimes personal things get in the way of dream pursuits - little things like limiting beliefs, insecurities, you may know what I am talking about ;) .

Brian Tracy is a great author - I just discovered his business start up book today. I can’t wait to sit down with it and see what he has to say about this thing called entrepreneurialism…

Effortless Over-Ear Book Light

I have to admit that one of the things I LOVED about working in the city was the train ride. It was a guaranteed two hours each day of quiet time and relaxation. I am an avid reader and could breeze through books weekly thanks to this lovely mode of transportation.

Yet now that I have no commute, I have had a harder time carving out time to read. I do have a little glass candle that sits on my head board, but after it fell on my face last week, I’m reluctant to use it to source lighting for my reading ;)

This spiffy little ear light gagdet could be just the ticket for lowering the stack of books next to my bedside.

Pompei Drape Front Sweater

One of my favorite things about fall is the weather cooling down, opening up a whole new set of daily wardrobe opportunities.

Of course, when working at home, this frequently simply means, “hmmm… bunny slippers or fruzzy cheetah slippers today?”

But when I actually DO get out of the house, I really look forward to actually getting dressed and looking and feeling great. And that’s JUST how I would feel in this absolutely georgeous [and even a little sexy] sweater.

Now to work on getting out of the house… ;)

Desktop Organizer - Aluminum by OFFI

My office is rather tiny. I had a big desk hutch, but the thing was so big it took up my entire wall. So I found this really slick and cool aluminum desktop organizer. It’s big - 42″ wide, but only 10″ tall - so it doesn’t overpower my space. I [heart] it!!

Pandan Storage Tower - Round Set of 3 by Neatnix

I have been on an organizing RAMPAGE lately. I find it SO much easier to focus when my home is clean and my office organized.

Realizing that my house is indeed in shambles (we are renovating) and my office is only partially organized (still under construction), I decided to take action (hence, Organizing Week!!. I spent ALL Labor Day weekend painting and cleaning.

I feel much saner now. But I still have more STUFF to reign in!!

I’m getting a little OCD with this stuff, can you tell?? ;)

Check out this nifty little drawer organizer that basically doubles your drawer space.

Considering I only have three drawers in my kitchen, this is nifty, nifty, nifty indeedy!

The Essential Guinea Pig (92 Pages)

We got a Guinea Pig this weekend. My kids have been relentless about getting one ever since we saved a chipmunk from our rodent-hunting cats, tried to keep it, then it got out of the cage and we spent days trying to catch it again (we promptly set it free after that!!).

So, I must admit the thing is darn cute. Small and furry. Adorable. But I don’t know the first thing about Guinea Pigs. I’ve never owned one. So to be sure we can keep the thing alive, I had better grab a copy of “The Essential Guinea Pig“. Yep. Better grab one fast, actually…

To Catch Really Embarrassing Moments September 1, 2006

I haven’t had a lot of luck with cameras in the past. I lose parts, drop them, or even overwrite first day of school pictures within hours of taking them (Yep. As in last Wednesday. Go me.)

Yet I have made the decision that I really need a better digital camera. The last time I priced these things out, I was looking at a Nikon CoolPix 5 Megapixel camera for $1200. Yes, it’s been a really long time!

I couldn’t believe you could get a 7+ Megapixel camera for under $500 bucks! Now that rocks!!
