There’s an interesting new service from BeInSync.com that might not be the most innovative idea on the planet - but it certainly is convenient.
You can sync two computers with up to 1GB of file sharing space with BeInSync’s free level of service. To jump up to 5GB and 5 computers, it’s only $5 a month (easy to remember, eh?!).
I could have totally used this when I did a lot of freelance work as a designer, or when I worked in an office and needed to take projects home. Emailing myself files or burning lots of CDs was a pain. 1GB is a pretty generous amount of storage.
Actually, as I’m writing this post, I’m realizing that even though I hardly use files anymore, my other desktop and laptop are no longer with us. :’( If this computer died I would be up a creek without a paddle and I would only have backups of my blog - no image files, business plan, photos, drafts, email archives, Nada. Zilch.
OK. I’ve sufficiently scared myself into signing up. You might now be interested too!

Actually, BeInSync is slightly more sophisticated than described in your post.
It’s syncing and sharing over an encrypted P2P network, so actually you’re not limited to 1GB or even to 5GB!
In BeInSync’s latest version they have online backup of 1GB (in the free version) or more if you upgrade…
