10 Reasons I’m Glad I Work From Home During the Holidays

1. I’m not bombarded with holiday sweet treats from overeager baking co-workers. (wait, is that a pro or a con?)
2. I don’t have to graciously accept a regift from a co-worker.
3. I don’t have to shield my eyes from the gaudy Christmas sweaters my co-workers wear.
4. You won’t catch me dancing on the table at the company Christmas party (although there was that incident with the Nyquil at Egg’s Christmas dinner. Another story).
5. I don’t have to fight the shopping crowds after 5.
6. Things are slow this time of year. Rather than pretend to work while I play Spider Solitaire in the office, I can curl up with a good holiday movie like “White Christmas.”
7. I can be there for my son’s holiday festivities.
8. I can enjoy my new puppy exploring the world of Christmas (”not on the tree, not on the tree! Noooooo!”)
9. I can craft my marketing plan for 2008 in my pjs.
10. I can look around my home office and know I’ve already gotten the best gift I could ask for. The ability to do what I love (from home) every single day.
Now excuse me. “Christmas in Connecticut” is coming on soon.

HA! Someday I’ll be a work at home guy too. Then I can stop being a solitaire addict…and my boss can stop telling me that Christmas time is the best time of year to be a salesperson…?!?
I agree! I am so glad I do not have to go out and work a 9-5 this time of the year!
I love doing allot of things with my kids, that I would be to tired to do it I worked outside of my home.
Great post Susan! I just recently escaped the rat race this past Novembers and I can totally relate to so many of your points. Especially fighting the shopping crowds after 5. lol. I was done with my holiday shopping at around 5pm this past wed and it was great!
Now my poor wife is out there braving the other last minute shoppers. (She forgot to tell me to pick up a few things so now she’s stuck out there.)
