Freelance Parent on eMoms at HomeLorna Doone Brewer and Tamara Berry earned the honor today of their blog Freelance Parent being named to a coveted list of the Top Ten Blogs for Writers by Michael Stelzner. Considering they only started this blog less than three months ago, I think they have kicked some serious a$$… but I might be a tiny bit biased.

I can’t tell you all of the things they did to get so far in such a short amount of time, but I can tell you the things I have seen them do well:

  1. They write a lot - more than even I ask of them.
  2. They are using their lives and business as topic material, which truly makes their readers connect with their posts
  3. They elegantly weave the personal with the professional, making for some great reads, like this little gem
  4. They have spent a lot of time networking, which is hard to do in a new business, but it has paid off for them already

Perhaps most of all, they have a hyper-focus on creating content that is extremely useful and valuable to their audience, such as:

One Person’s Funny is another Person’s “We are Not Amused.”

It’s hard to go wrong when you focus on your audience, be transparent & genuine, and crank out quality work.

Go drop by and give them a big congratulatory hug, will ya? :)

So, I log in this morning, and I see that there are a bunch of links back to Freelance Parent. “Great,” I think sarcastically, “someone ran through and spammed a bunch of our posts.” Then I catch this little snippet, “They elegantly weave the personal with the professional, making for some great reads,” and I’m thinking, “Well, this is the best spam ever!”

I figured it out pretty quickly from there. How cool is it that we made that list? Seriously, we’re on a list with Copyblogger. How much does that rock?!

Thanks to those who nominated us, and to Michael for bestowing the honor.

That is so wonderful - great job, ladies! Heading to your blog now to congratulate you there, too!!

Congratulations, and may there be many more awards…in your future.
