Monday Motivation :: Get Things Done Today!

Small Business Ideas Forum

A friendly place to find help & encourage one another

Monday MotivationI am SO HAPPY that we kicked it up a notch last week - I got a TON of things done and off of my lengthening To Do list, and had a mini moment of brilliance as I figured out a way to get us all working together to help each other out with our collective To Do Wish Lists!

I’m feeling super-motivated to commit to a whole new week of To Do’s, but I’m feeling a little stuffy and my daughter is upstairs complaining of a tummy ache. So I’ll go a little easier on myself today, although you are free to commit up a storm, like Dennis (list) and Nathania (list) did last week (how’d it go, you two?!). I got all of my stuff done except for the video conversion, but that was because I found out I don’t have the right cable to get the video off of my camera and onto my computer.

So what are you going to get done today?

Play along to kick your week off with a chunk missing from your To Do list! Commit to getting some stuff done today, tomorrow, or all week long. Then let us know what will get you motivated to accomplish it all. Usually, I throw down a little bit of leverage - self-imposed consequences if I don’t complete my tasks. You might do the same, or want to find a great reward that will be enough incentive to Get Things Done Today!

Today I will:

  1. Create a To Do list for my NEW INTERN (I’m SO proud of myself!!)
  2. Organize all of the participants and requests for the To Do I Wish List project
  3. Clean out my inbox (243 items PLUS 251 items in my personal mail folder - yikes!)
  4. Meditate

By the end of the week I will also:

  1. Knock off 8 things from my “Urgently Needs Attention” list
  2. Knock off 5 things from my “Important Needs Attention” list
  3. Meditate 3 more times

This week, I’m going to try the carrot approach rather than the consequences approach. Usually it isn’t quite so motivating, but it’s nice to change things around a bit! So, if I have all of this stuff done by the time I go to bed Sunday night, I will splurge on new flowers for the back yard garden.

Your turn! :D

    I’m in. :)

My to-do list for this week (it’s small because of some family issues that need to be a priority)

    1. Look for ways to promote my adoption store.
    2. Find more blog carnivals/group writing projects/memes to participate in that can be done on the topic of adoption.

    That’s it for now!

    1. Monday Memo for job #2 (15 mins)
    2. Weekly update for job #1 (15 mins)
    3. Finish writing history of Colombia for job #2 (30 mins)
    4. Write another country history (3 hours)
    5. Go through inbox (45 mins)
    6. Clean house for company (1.5 hours)

Considering that it’s already 3:30, I’d better get on the ball. Especially since there’s a Hero’s finale on tonight!

Leverage: If I don’t get this finished before going to bed, then I must clean, vacuum, and dust the entire upstairs tomorrow.

    Hi Wendy,

I’m committing again this week to continue working on my prior learning project…by making the commitment with you last week, I actually did it, and I need to publicly declare my intentions again, otherwise I just won’t work on that project!

As long as I do 1/2 hour each day, I’ll be 150 minutes closer to being done this week. I’ll also do the incentive reward…I must think of one!! :)

Trouble is that by the time I read this Monday for me is over (I’m in Australia so ahead in time from you).

On my to do list is to think of a more substantial to do list for next week. Hmmm, procrastination is my middle name.

I admire your to do list though.

Last week I transfered all of my health related posts on my 360 blog to my draft folder on blogger. I continued to spread the word that I am on the internet.

This week I got my picture taken with the governor and others who participated in the health fair day at the capital in April. They will be emailing pictures to all in attendance. I also did some networking. I read Tim Ryan D- House of Rep Ohio blog on his food stamp challenge he did last week.

Tomorrow I am going to re organize my files on my pc so I can find all of my things I need access to the most in one or two folders instead of sifting through stuff.

I also need to scrounge $10 so I can feed me and my kid for the rest of the week. A gallon of milk and two lbs of lean ground beef will adequately add to what I need to make last until next Saturday. I hope.

I need to go through all of my sons things he has accumulated over the school year and figure out what to keep and what to toss. I also need to organize all of my notes and books here that relate to weight loss, health and wellness.

I am going to work on designs for my cafepress store too. I want to learn more about my dreamweaver software too.

    I think that is enough.

    Have a good one, Joe

    Wendy…

First off I’m finished… technically. Internet went down just after I made my committment comment and tech support says maybe next monday. Time to switch providers. I’m uploading the completed posts and podcast as I sit in a cafe this morning.

I’m downgrading because 2.2 requires mySql 4.0 or better. I didn’t realize that until I went to update the wordpress install and got an error. The host for this particular site has no interest in upgrading at this time. Since it is not my site (I’m just managing it) I don’t have much control over who the host is. So…. downgrade time :frown:
