User-Gen Content :: Venti With Foamy Non-Fat Milk and an Extra Shot

Get your Starbucks shirt for FREE!Lately, I’ve been paying a lot of attention to User-Generated Content. I’ve mentioned that I work with CIMA - the Chicago Interactive Marketing Association - on their Events Committee. Currently, I am in charge of putting together our March DinnerBYTE - an overview of User-Generated Content for Marketers and Advertisers. (BTW, the blogosphere’s very own Robyn Tippins will be here in Chicago moderating our panel of experts!).

So we’re doing our research for the event, and up comes Starbucks on my radar. As a espresso-loving junkie, I’m a sucker for anything that’s french roasted, brown and hails from Seattle.

So I flew over to their site when I heard about their new viral marketing effort - order up your own drink, your style, and get it on a free t-shirt. Sadly, I was too late. They are only giving away a certain number of shirts every day, and you have to show up at 10a PST to get in the running.

So my alarm is set for tomorrow, and until then, I’ll just have to settle for their wallpapers (I know, a little anti-climatic after the free shirt offer!). But the offer runs until Feb 28th, so I’m hoping the coffee-bean gods will smile upon me so that I can get my Triple Venti Nonfat Foamy Latte shirt asap!

It’s one of the tragedies of my life that I don’t have a Starbuck’s on my way to work. Or anywhere near WHERE I work.

On the other hand, it probably saves me a hundred dollars or so a month…..

That T-Shirt idea sounds fun.

LOL KB, that is indeed a travesty! ;)

But I agree - I used to spend a small fortune there myself. We live in the country now (well, as country as you can get for Chicago suburbs) and there isn’t a Starbucks around for 3-4 miles. I bought an espresso machine and buy their whole bean coffee at the grocery store now - and do indeed save a bundle!

I’ve gone about a month without coffee. I have some kind of gastric problem that seems to be exascerbated by coffee consumption. My tea ingestion, however, is at an all time high.

I too had to settle for a wallpaper. I need to set my alarm so I can remember to go get my shirt tomorrow! The question would be..do I get my normal order printed on it or my altered “I’m pregnant” drink on it? A nice triple venti is not in my future for some time!!

Sharla, I’ve tried two days in a row and got there exactly at 10a PST - and they say they are already out of shirts. Maybe they say that to everyone and just use it to suck in the traffic! ;)
